Protecting Bethany Page 11

That was all it took for her to come, their demanding words and the actions that went with them. Beth leaned into Connor and cried out from the sheer perfection of the moment, the rightness that she felt all the way to her soul.

Both followed her over the edge. She could feel their cocks jerking inside of her as they came. Behind her she could feel Brendan shuddering, his hot breath brushing her skin. His hands slid down to her belly and hugged her gently.

She felt completely at peace in those moments, relaxed unlike anything she had felt before and connected to both men in a way that she hadn’t anticipated. A silly smile on her face she yawned and nuzzled Connor’s shoulder. Finally she spoke in a whisper, “That was amazing.”

“It really was,” he agreed with her. He brushed a kiss over her cheek and stroked her hair gently. “We’ll clean up and then we all need to get some sleep.” Tipping her chin up he pressed a kiss to her lips. Then he slid his cock from her pussy and rolled off the bed.

Brendan gave her a squeeze before he pulled slowly out of her ass. “I’ll grab a cloth to clean you up,” he said softly. “Just relax, all right?” he asked, pressing kisses to her neck.

“I don’t think that I could move right now if you paid me.” Bethany told him honestly, a yawn as she spoke. “Hurry back to bed, I want you two to cuddle me and then sleep. Lots of sleep.”

“Sounds like an excellent plan,” he said with a chuckle. Hugging her again he slipped his arms from around her and then rolled off the bed. Padding to the bathroom he disappeared from view. She could hear the brothers talking and then they were both coming back to her, Brendan with a damp cloth in hand.

Crawling up on the bed Brendan settled down by her hip. Lifting her leg slightly he wiped the cloth gently over her pussy and then over her ass. Pressing a kiss to her knee he settled her leg back on the bed. Getting up he took the cloth to the bathroom and quickly returned to crawl in next to her.

Rolling so that she could face Brendan, Bethany snuggled up against him and let out a sigh when his arms surrounded her. “Now if only Connor would hurry life would be very good indeed.” She wanted to feel both of them surrounding her and holding her close, she wanted the heat from both men holding her tightly.

The bed dipped. “I’m here.” He chuckled. “Just needed to reset the alarm so we’re not up at the crack of dawn but shortly after.” He slid in close to her back and wrapped his arms around her. Pressing a kiss to her neck he nuzzled at her skin. “Close your eyes and go to sleep, Bethany.”

“I love you, both of you,” Bethany whispered and sighed once more. “Good night you two and sleep well because tomorrow will be a very long day,” she whispered a little sadly and then was shortly off and sleeping under her men’s care.

  Chapter Eleven

Outside the sheriff’s office the next morning they were waiting. She knew the sheriff and his deputies had already headed out to serve the arrest warrants but it seemed like they were taking forever to get back.

Connor was in the back on the truck ankles crossed, Stetson tipped low and his hands tucked behind his head. For all intents and purposes the man looked like he was asleep. But then again Brendan looked to be dozing as well.

Braced against the passenger door he had his hat down low, legs stretched out and was holding her loosely. How either of them could be so relaxed she didn’t know. She was a bundle of nerves. “Quit fidgeting,” Brendan said softly. “They will get here when they get here and worrying won’t make it happen any faster.”

“I know but good heavens I can’t seem to help myself.” Bethany muttered as she paced along the vehicle, worry clear on her face. “I hate this. The not knowing. The uncertainty of it all. I mean I know that they are going to be able to do it, but what if they give the Sheriff and his men troubles? Would we or could we be that lucky?” To have them shot and killed instead of going to have to deal with what she knew was going to come their way far too soon.

Pushing his hat up with a finger Brendan straightened up and pulled her into his arms, her back to his front. “Hey, no matter what, we will get through this. Connor and I are not going anywhere,” he said softly. Rocking her back and forth he rubbed his cheek to hers, the scruff on his jaw lightly scraping her skin. “And, just so you know, no one’s ever as lucky as that. We can hope, we can even place bets but I’m guessing they’ll haul them in with just a few scrapes and bruises.”

“I know that you are both here and not leaving me.” She relaxed into his hold and sighed. These men seemed to know just what she needed and when she needed it. Damn their beautiful eyes. “I could have hoped that we would have been that lucky, right? Wishing isn’t bad, is it?”

“After what you’ve been through, no, not in the least,” he said softly. Squeezing her he loosened his hold again and kissed her cheek again. Sighing he lifted his head and she felt him rest his chin on her hair. “But there is the added bonus of having them know that they are screwed six ways of Sunday and that they will, forever, be someone else’s bitch. You have to admit, the thought of some large fellow named Carl or Bubba adopting them in prison gives you a giddy little feeling, right?”

She grinned and looked up at Brendan. “Yeah, it kinda does.” She admitted perversely. She knew that it was just so many shades of wrong to hope for that on someone, but she did. She hoped that they would understand what it was to be completely helpless and under someone’s thumb for the rest of their lives.

“You two are seriously weird,” Connor commented. So he wasn’t asleep, wonder of wonders. “You both need a hobby or something.”

Brendan chuckled and shifted to look down at her. “It’s not wrong to want karma to kick those that hurt Bethany in the nuts. Besides, with my connections, I’m almost a hundred percent sure I can make their lives miserable in prison for as long as they both live.”

“Oh heavens.” That had Bethany grinning. “Wait, no you can’t. Bren you can’t get involved. You can’t chance them coming after you because you helped me. You can’t chance them coming for your Law Practice just because of me. As much as I would pay good money to see that all happen, you know we can’t.”

“Darling, I said I could, didn’t say I would,” he told her softly. “Besides, no way in hell am I going to jail and leaving you alone with Connor. He’d drive you to do something rash and then we’d be really screwed.” Grinning down at her he dropped a kiss on her lips that lingered for a few moments before he drew back.

When he pulled back Bethany licked her lips and grinned. “Damn that kiss made me want to go inside and lock ourselves in the Sheriff’s office. I’m sure that he wouldn’t mind, much.” She would just have to bake him some cookies, the miniature ones that he loved so much. Miniature so that he could sneak some home and his wife never be any the wiser.

“Unless he catches you,” Connor said with a chuckle. “Do you really want that man, who has a gun no less, to catch you with your pants down in the midst of making love? Especially in his office? Yeah, ’cause that won’t hit the gossip network right away.”

“Crap, good point.” She hated when he was all sensible and stuff. It drove her to distraction. “I love you, you know that right? But seriously sometimes it would be nice to win an argument with you. On occasion.” It wasn’t an argument and she knew it, but she liked to tease her too serious Connor from time to time.

“Hey, I say go for it. But I’m not bailing your asses out. And I’m taking pictures,” he said laughing now. He sat up and tossed his hat onto the bed of the truck. “I can’t help that I’m right all the time. It’s a curse, don’t you know, part of being a Graymont male I think. Usually it’s Brendan talking me out of shit like that so it’s a rather nice change that I’m the one being all smart and level headed.”

Looking up at Brendan Bethany grinned again. “So, what do you think? Should we go inside and take up residence in the Sheriff’s office for a bit so that I can calm down a little?” She was calm now, but the thoughts of being able to do something
so naughty had her downright ready, then and there.

He looked to be considering it, and not the way she’d suggested either if the heat in his eyes was anything to go by. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately depending on the point of view, the sound of vehicles broke the quiet just then. He looked away and frowned. “Looks like they’re back,” he said softly.

Connor was out of the back of the truck, hat in place and at her side quicker than she would have believed. “Good, we can get this done with quickly then,” he said, his tone hard.

Bethany looked to the twin fishtails of dust coming their way and had to lick her suddenly dry lips. “Okay. We can do this.” Because it wasn’t her alone, never again would she be alone. She would for now and all time be at their sides. It was what was needed.

Brendan squeezed her waist and Connor looped an arm around her neck. “We’re right here,” Connor said softly. “They can’t get to you and they can never, ever hurt you again. No matter what is said know you are loved and always will be, by us and everyone else that considers you family.”

“I know. That’s the only reason I am able to be here today to face those bastards down for what they did to me instead of allowing the attorney and sheriff take care of it all,” she admitted quietly. “Thank you by the way, for being here with me and at my side. I know that it’s not something I should thank you for, but I am thankful all the same.”

“It’s something you don’t have to thank us for,” Brendan said. “We love you, Bethany. There is absolutely nowhere else I want to be except here, at your side, ensuring you get the closure you need.” The trucks were close enough now to see the men and women inside.

Taking a deep breath she nodded. “I know,” she whispered. “But I wanted to say it all the same.” Her hands slipped into theirs. A silent guardian on each side of her and strong as the day was long. She was safe from all harm where she was and knew it.

Connor squeezed her fingers and pressed the hand he had to his chest. Brendan laced their fingers and wrapped his arm, his hand locked with hers, around her waist. Pressing in closer her men boxed her in and warmed her as the trucks stopped and doors started to open.

“Keep breathing,” Brendan reminded her quietly.

Bethany just nodded as she watched both monsters from her past be pulled cursing and spitting from the backs of cop cars. She saw when her father looked at her and lifted her chin just a bit. She couldn’t help herself. She refused to cast her eyes downward, not now. She then looked at the ex and looked to the Sheriff. “Thank you for acting so quickly Sheriff.” She stated quietly, refusing to give either her father or ex another moment of her time.

Both men could feel her shaking, but with their hands on her she was steady as a rock to any that might look upon her visage.

The Sheriff gave her a nod and waved the deputies forward. “Get them locked up,” he ordered. Shoving his hands in his pockets he moved toward them once the men were led inside. “We have more than enough to hold them on. Along with your charges we also found a couple of women locked up in the ranch houses basement. They are going to be okay but we had them taken directly to the hospital to be treated and assessed. Do you want to add anything to your statement since you’re here?”

“I want them to be locked under the jail never to see the light of day. What they did, what they forced should never have been allowed to happen.” She felt sick and added, “And I didn’t know about other women or I would have made damn sure that they got out when I did.” She was not the type to leave another hurting if she could help them.

“I know that, ma’am,” he said. Shaking his head he pulled his cap off and rubbed a hand through his thinning hair. “I’m just glad you got out when you did. If you hadn’t we might never have found those ladies.”

“When will their hearing be?” Brendan asked.

“Can’t rightly say, Brendan. The judge will be pushing this through as quick as he can so we can ensure the T’s are crossed and I’s dotted as needed to bury them. I’ll give you a call as soon as I know when you may be needed. The judge didn’t think it would be necessary but…” The Sheriff shrugged.

“Anything we have to do we will do it. I just need to ensure that they will pay for their crimes and never be able to slip out under some asinine mix up or another. As long as that will happen I’m happy. As long as they will be locked away, that’s wonderful.”

“We’re watching everything we’re doing and doing it all by the book. We’re going to take our time and ensure nothing is fucked up. All our evidence will be processed through the FBI’s lab, thanks for that Brendan,” he said.

Brendan shrugged. “I figured if you needed it you’d use it. Vic will make sure that everything is solid and will gladly testify to anything and everything. She’s a good egg and one of their best.”

“Yeah, she gave me the song and dance to ease my mind,” the sheriff said. “Anyway, go ahead. I’ll give you a call when we know more and when the dates are set.”

“Thank you,” was all that Bethany said. She was watching as the monsters from her past were lead away in chains and handcuffs. It was over. This part of her life was over and now she could and would fully focus on her future. “Will we be able to take over the Mason-Dixon anytime soon?” Bethany asked quietly.

“I’m going to say in about a week,” the Sheriff told her. “We’re still processing it as a crime scene to make sure we miss absolutely nothing. We want those two buried as well so, give us the week and if it turns out we’re done sooner, I’ll call you right off.”

“We understand, Sheriff,” Connor said, holding out a hand and shaking the other man’s. “Thank you for doing everything you can to make them pay.”

“It’s just part of the job, but with those two I hate to admit it’s also a little personal,” he muttered, shooting Bethany a sad look.

Bethany understood just what it was that the Sheriff wasn’t saying and nodded her head. “Thank you. I do appreciate all that you are doing and the trouble those asses are sure to give you. You are doing what is right and did the moment you knew something was wrong. That is what you need to focus on. That they will face justice.”

“That they will, ma’am,” he said. Flicking the rim of his cap he headed inside.

Brendan turned slightly to look down at her. He didn’t say anything right away, just looked at her. Finally he nodded and let out a breath. “I think we should go and grab a bite to eat before heading back.”

“That sounds good.” Bethany took in a deep and shaky breath. Squeezing the hands that she was holding tightly she looked to Brendan. “We will make sure that your daddy knows now however. I know that he was anxious and wanted to come with us but thank heavens Patty corralled him instead.”

“I’ll call him once we order our food,” he said softly. “Come on, let’s get going. No point sticking around now that we know they are locked up where they can’t hurt you or anyone else ever again.” Squeezing her fingers he let go and went around to the driver’s side of the truck.

Bethany climbed up into the front of the truck, taking position in the middle of the bench seat and buckling up. When Connor climbed in she snuggled up against him and closed her eyes after he was buckled up. “This is nice,” she said with a smile.

Brendan got them moving and, though it wasn’t far she knew, it was enough for her to really relax. All too soon they were pulling to a stop and the truck engine was turned off. “You asleep over there, Bethany?” Brendan asked in a teasing tone.

“Nope, I’m awake.” Barely. “Are we are the restaurant?” She opened her eyes and saw that they were sitting in front of the one sit down restaurant in the county. Mamma Joe’s Place was a simple restaurant with surprisingly delicious food. The cooks could service kings and queens, and instead they were there in their little county feeding the people that came and went and were always busy because of just how good the food was.

“Where else would we be?” Connor asked with a grin down at her. He ope
ned his door and, undoing his seat belt, slipped out of the truck. Holding out a hand he helped her down. “I’m dying for some of their pancakes. Oh, maybe the Belgian waffles instead, those are so fucking good.”

“I am getting their stuffed cream cheese crepes.” Bethany felt her stomach rumble. “Oh yeah, that’s so what I’m getting. That and their fruit salad. God that sounds so good.” Their stuffed cream cheese crepes were to die for, stuffed with cream cheese and fresh fruits. “Oh and their homemade syrup too.”

Brendan came around to join them on the sidewalk and shook his head. “If you’re so hungry why aren’t you inside ordering? Come on, I’m starving.” He waved them both inside the restaurant.

That had her laughing and shaking her head. “I’m not inside ordering because I had to get out of the truck you know. You and your long legged self was right beside the door and could slip out quickly, I had to wait ya know.” She was teasing Brendan and he knew it.

“Oh, so now I’m being blamed for you being so short?” he asked, grinning at her. Shaking his head he hugged out a breath. “Oh the things I put up with you woman.” Smacking her ass lightly he pressed his hand to her back and gently pushed her toward the door which Connor swung open and held for her.

“I’m not blaming you for how short that I am.” Bethany was happy to have her men with her, a great deal. “And you love how short I am so get over it,” she added with a wink to Connor as she sailed into the restaurant.

Once they were seated, almost as soon as they walked into the door honestly, Bethany didn’t even open the menu, she knew what she wanted and if she opened the menu she might change her mind and that just wouldn’t do at all.

Connor signaled the waitress before he sat down. Since they were in a booth, one of the nice corner ones, both her guys were close to her. The waitress came up, set down a carafe of coffee and stood at the ready with her pad and paper.
