  Prince Charming

When her mother died, Cinderella was sure that she and her father would fall apart alone. However, that changed when her father met a woman with two daughters of her own. Cindy was sure that life was going to be spectacular! Not only was she going to have a new mother, but sisters as well! However, in the time of war her father was called off to protect their Kingdom. A King who always had believed in fighting with his men, Cindy was taught what reality was.

Forced into the role of servant, Cinderella lives each day in the shadows of her own home, watching and hiding in hopes that her stepmother and stepsisters will forget her... until she runs into a visiting Prince that is. When she runs into Prince Randulf in the halls of the castle, she knows she will have to do what she can to save him from her sisters and her stepmother. Even at the cost of a whipping, Cindy steers him clear of her family.

Cedric thinks that Cindy is a servant when he first meets her, even if her mannerisms are anything but servitude. He loses his heart to her, however, and soon so, too, does his best friend, Prince Randulf. Now if only she were a Princess life could be good, right?

  Prologue

In a land and time, ages past…

Just over six hundred years ago in lands pure and untouched, our story begins. Where kings and queens rule fairly and with a firm hand only when needed. Their people live a pure life, surviving off the land they toil over day in and out. The perfect man is fantasized and giggled over in dreamy whispers by fair maidens dreaming of their very own Prince Charming sweeping them off their feet in the grandest of fairy tales yet to be written.

  Chapter One

Five hundred seventy-five years ago, in a land far, far away…

“Mummy, look,” the little boy said, holding up the flower, “for you, Mummy.” He smiled at her, the gap in his front teeth giving his words a slight whistle.

“Thank you, my handsome boy,” she said, taking the little blossom from his chubby fingers. Lifting it to her face, she took a sniff of the delicate blossom and smiled at her son before cupping his chubby face in her left hand.

“Are you feeling any better, Mummy?” he asked, leaning into her touch as he folded his arms on the edge of the chaise where she was resting.

“No, poppet, I’m afraid not. Still too tired, I’m afraid,” she said quietly. “Why don’t you go and find some of your friends and play for a while?”

His lip went out in a pout, and he shook his head. “I want to stay with you, Mummy. I don’t feel like playing right now, but can I have a hug?

Smiling at him, she nodded and lifted her blanket, keeping her warm. “Of course, poppet, come on up and cuddle with your mum. But take your shoes off first so you don’t get the chaise dirty,” she told him quietly.

Taking his shoes off, he set them neatly aside and then scrambled up to lie in her arms. Wrapping his shorter ones around her as best he could, he closed his eyes and held on.

  Five years later

The wind was cold against his face, the day dark with a storm brewing on the horizon that had yet to let loose with the snow they knew was coming. Standing in the family cemetery, he stared at the box that held his mother. She was gone, the warm light of her love and the feeling of her arms wrapping around him forever gone from the world.

Tears tracked down his face as, at barely eight summers, he knew the loss of a loved one. She was the only woman he’d ever loved besides his nanny in his short eight years. He knew that there would never be another quite like her, for she was irreplaceable in his little heart. A heart that had been broken into more pieces than the vase he’d accidently knocked over two weeks past.

Sniffling, he looked up when a large hand came to rest on his shoulder. He saw a similar feeling of grief on his father’s face. Turning, he buried his face in his father’s jacket and let the sobs that had been threatening for hours to break through finally release. Strong arms wrapped around him and held his shaking form close, offering what little comfort they could.

  Fifteen years later

“Come on, Randulf,” his friend called to him. “We’ve wenches to bed and fun to have.”

Laughing at Cedric’s words, he finished buttoning his jacket and stepped out of his closet into his bedroom. He shook his head at the image his friend presented, draped in the chair and looking so long faced. “I’m ready to go,” he said, stopping before the mirror to ensure he looked no more the royal prince than his friend looked of his well-to-do position.

“About time. Gads, man, if I’d known it would take you so long I’d have insisted you have your valet up here helping you,” Cedric muttered, untangling himself and hopping to his feet.

“And have father knowing that we’re off to ruin some young ladies tonight?” He shook his head at him. “I hardly think that would go over well with the old man.”

“No, good point, lad.” Cedric nodded slowly. “Well, come on then. Let’s go see what we can talk some ladies into doing with us tonight.”

Chuckling at his words and the knowledge that they could likely talk many a female into many a thing, Randulf headed for the door. Get a handful of wenches in a bed and between the two of them they’d show them a bloody good time. Either one-on-one or two-on-one, it didn’t really matter.

He and Cedric always shared their women and likely always would. They were closer than brothers could ever be and knew one another better than brothers ever could. Best friends since they could walk, they knew every secret the other held. And one such secret was the love of women and having one sandwiched between them.

Tonight would just be another night of pleasures of the flesh, and, if they were lucky, maybe, just maybe, they’d talk one into having them both. There was always one wench among a group who wanted to feel both her holes stretched and filled by male flesh. It was just getting them drunk enough to relax their normal inhibitions and admit it. It had never been a problem for them before, and it wouldn’t be one again.

  Twenty-four years later

Walking through the halls of the garishly designed palace building, he sighed. He couldn’t believe his father was making him marry. Hell, Cedric hadn’t believed it either. Not that it was going to change his plans any, as he’d told his friend. No, he’d marry for his father’s happiness and get an heir by her to assure the reign of the crown. Then he would go right back to his ways of having as many women as he could in any given night. It would have to be more discreet, of course, which Cedric understood. Having word getting back to Randulf’s father would not bode well in the least.

Thus, why he found himself in this particular palace instead of out enjoying the pleasures of feminine flesh. He was here to meet two eligible princesses as possible candidates for him to wed. Not that he’d actually marry either. One was too loud and obnoxious, and the other didn’t appear to want to give him the time of day. But because his father had asked, he was there to at least meet them and consider them.

The date for the royal wedding had been set already. He had one year to find the woman he would marry and announce it. Then exactly four weeks after, the time required for the bans to be posted, he would be a married man. So here he was, out meeting eligible women who would be invited to the ball in one year’s time. There he would have his final chance to speak to each of the women and make his decision, which would be announced that night at midnight.

If only there were women of any note who weren’t full of air where there should be brains and didn’t sound like the braying of a jackass when they laughed. If Randulf was to be forced into marriage, he wanted a woman that at least could hold a conversation and his interest long enough for him to bed and get her with child.

Turning the corner, he grunted at the impact of a small body to his. Afraid it was a child he’d run over, he swiftly caught the arm of the person he’d slammed into. But it wasn’t a child. It was a woman, slight of form but definitely a woman. “I beg your pardon, Miss,” he said, noting her clothing charged her as a servant. “I honestly didn’t see you there and pray you’ll forgive me for attempting to mow you down.”

She barely glanced at him before mumbling under her breath that all was forgiven. Reluctantly he let her arm go, the soft texture of her skin making his cock twitch in the confines of his trousers. As she rushed off, Randulf turned to watch her go and noted the feminine form not quite hidden under the shapeless frock she wore. The glance back she gave him before vanishing from sight had his cock standing at full attention and throbbing in want and need. While she looked tired and worn down, she was a true beauty, both in face and form. He’d have to see about finding her later, and mayhap, he and Cedric could have some fun on their journeys after all.

  Chapter Two

She had gotten past the large man without him realizing that she had smuggled a loaf of bread from her sisters’ trays. She hated having to steal, but there was no choice. The workers of the house were all but starving because of her stepmother’s brutal and vicious hold on the purse strings. It wasn’t that her family was poor. They actually had very large coffers. Sadly, however, since her father had gone missing, her stepmother and stepsisters spent the monies as if they were never ending. First, cutting out the wages of the people who depended on the monies then cutting out the food that her father had always ensured was there and available for them all to partake of. It was insane. It was something that she hoped to be able to rectify…one day. First, though, she had to track her father down.

Moving through the darkened halls, Cindy pushed open the heavy doors and turned to face the woman and her children that were there waiting for her. Pulling the bread loaf and freshly churned butter from her cape, she passed them off to the woman. “Hide them,” she whispered. “Make sure that my stepmother never sees you with them,” she added quietly.

  “Yes, Princess.”

“Shh, please remember you are never to call me that,” Cindy reminded her. “If she heard you calling me that, there is no telling what she would do to you.” Since her father had left for the unknown, Cindy had been relegated to less than a chambermaid. She had been pushed into the slot of a slave, and all knew it.

No one said anything, of course, because no one could naysay the queen. Not if they wanted to live.

“I will bring you more when I am able to. She has assigned me to the laundress,” Cindy said with a shudder. The laundress was as bad as her stepmother. It could have been because she was a woman who had come to the kingdom with her stepmother and stepsisters, but needless to say, she was a monstrous woman who would ensure that Cindy didn’t lift her head while the prince and his party were there. It was a way to keep her secluded and hidden.

“Bless you, Cinderella,” the woman whispered.

“Just take care of your wee ones, Teresa, and I will do what I can to bring you more foods when I’m able to.” With that, Cindy moved from the woman and back into the darkness of the halls. Looking both ways, Cindy pulled her cloak around herself once more and then took off for the laundry, a place that she truly detested, but at least it would keep her from the men who would be roaming the castle halls.

  * * * *

“I need you to go to the guests chambers and pull their bedding. Take with you a change of bedding so that they will have clean bedding to sleep in tonight,” the laundress screeched at Cindy.

“Yes, mistress.” Cindy knew better than to argue. She still was sporting the black eye from when she had dared to naysay the woman earlier.

“And make sure that, this time, you are able to get the corners folded in correctly.”

“Yes, mistress,” Cindy said as she grabbed the bedding. Holding them close, she raced for the guest chambers so that she could get the bedding changed before the prince or his friend came back from the hunt.

  Chapter Three

“I won’t be long,” he said to Cedric before turning his horse back toward the palace and spurring it on. Damned idiots out on the hunt with them. Plucking at the massive wine stain soaking through
his trousers, he spurred the horse on faster. If he was lucky, he’d be able to get into the palace to his rooms, change, and be back out before either of the princesses spotted him. Especially the older of the two. Bloody female seemed to think he was just going to fall at her feet.

Pulling the horse up in the courtyard, he vaulted off and passed the reins to a young lad. “I won’t be long. Walk him about until I return, will you, please?” Getting a nod, he smiled and jogged into the palace and up some side stairs, skirting through the halls quickly, his eyes open for any of the royalty.

Pushing into his room, he sighed. “Just once I’d like not to end up drenched on a hunt,” he muttered as he moved to his trunk. Crouching, he flipped it open and dug through looking for a clean pair of trousers. Shutting the lid, he found himself staring into the wide eyes of the girl he’d nearly run over earlier. “Hello again.” He smiled gently at her.

Cindy looked at him and gulped, hard. “Hello,” she whispered and clenched the bedding against her chest. “I’m sorry I didn’t know you would be here.” She took a step back from him. “How does the hunt go?” She took another step back from him. “I take it that Fredrik was the one who spilled on you? Sadly, he’s a master with the dogs but is an idiot when it comes to drinks. Father more than once had to return from the hunt to change clothes. It got to the point where he took spare clothing with him on the hunt.”
